Wait for the next one

This is a sunny sight in Birmingham.

We've had a busy weekend. We've been to see 5 seconds of summer, well i haven't but my daughter and her friend went and me and my friend found time to catch up over a pizza and the photo us the hotel the band were staying in


The train journey was not good, i think it was the fact we were travelling backwards without a window it was a long journey this one and when the choice came of seat direction on the booking form i really didn't think it mattered but now i know it does. Anyway I'd like to say we arrived without incident but obviously with my track record i would be lying. I nearly got my head knocked off my the electric doors separating the carriages on the train. The quiet carriage was no longer quiet as the door was edging towards my face, i thought i was going to be cut in two but for the quick thinking of my friend who couldn't do much for laughing as i screamed her name she pressed the button to open the door changing its direction. With my friend and our daughters laughing at my near head loss the eyes of the remaining seated passengers in the quiet carriage rolled and heads shook. Me, i was in shock and usually laugh till i cry when in shock. Funny now but not then although my group would disagree.

So, on to meet lenny henry at a famous chain of hotels. 4th floor, reached without incident. Bedrooms lovely and a picture of lenny to welcome us.

Quick freshen up and off to find the venue. Turn left and its 5 minutes up there! Of course it is, but when you come across a little crowd outside the bands hotel and you can be at the front, you have to stop don't you? Fan girling this is apparently called. I've not done this before, but i soon got the hang of it, a little excited scream when something that looks like a guitar and a long haired band member is stood by the front door which you can only see through tinted windows, oh the excitement then devastation when you realise its a girl and a lampshade! Our girls had parted from us by now!

Freezing the girls decided to move onto the venue, the one 5 minutes away. Just a little further but past all the eateries and over the canal we found the venue and saw the girls safely in to buy rubbish food and their merch! We nearly bought ourselves a tee shirt just to meet them afterwards but didn't think it would go down too well.

So in to pizza express for a lovely tea and a drink and a catch up, dodging the two great big ducks flying over head and crash landing on the canal. We left one italian resteraunt because we weren't sure how it worked so in one door and out the other! We visited a nice pub on the other side to see the end of the champions league before meeting up with the girls again at sea life. So excited because the band had sung the pizza song. They are such a good boy band well done boys my daughter was very happy.

So a marathon to find a macdonalds after the concert. We ended up at the bullring. This was not 5 minutes away and when we did get our mcdonalds it was cold so it went straight back. Apparently it's not the best! But i'll write and complain and accept my voucher!!

So a taxi now back to lenny. We were all now very tired and cold and we could not be bothered to fan girl on the way past the boys hotel at this hour of nearly midnight.

Did lenny live up to his name, you bet he did and we all had the good stay he guarentees. Up and ready for the day we had a quick glimpse at the big hotel up the road, we think they are in the window on the 21st floor. Can you see them?

A good breakfast we had then a leisurely taxi ride to the train station. We had a laid back morning and one of our group was really not well that by the time we got to the train station we couldn't be bothered to go shopping so we found a seat and a coffee and caught up on our social networks and the news. Poor Mo Farrah couldn't run in Birmingham and terrible news coming from newcastle, reading the reports from the eye witness sounded really scary so we thanked our stars for the good and safe night we had in Birmingham.

The train arrived at platform 7. Could we get home without incident. The journey home was slightly better although i will request forward facing next time. I don't get how we travelled backwards in both directions but we did. The air con was very cold and our quiet carriage was disturbed by a group who thought it highly amusing one of their party had got split up from them and now auntie karen was on a train to london instead of preston. Oh well. And the children thought the quiet carriage a playground where you run up the aisles and climb on the seats! Not impressed but they weren't on long. How dare they laugh in the quiet carriage and disturb someones peace.

So frozen from fan girling and now the air con we arrived home on time on our virgin train.

So to the two top men this weekend richard and lenny thanks very much we have had a great weekend and cannot wait for the next one.
