Finally - the poppies

The poppies have flowered.  The huge buds have burst open and the blowsy and exotic plant is the exact opposite of subtle.  It's heavy and sprawling everywhere, seriously decadent, lush - and I thought I'd better blip before it collapses in a heap of rich petals.

Now, why does it make me think of "Carmen" ?
