Reflection
Phew been trying to get on to blip but had a problem with the laptop, Mike fixed it :)
What a wonderful day. I spent the morning with PurpleIsleMum and we had a long natter and a tasty picnic in the sunshine. Thanks Julie for the fruit and crisps and to Mike for getting the sandwiches and cake.
We arrived at the Point at just gone 11 o clock this morning knowing that we probably would nt get a good display from the dolphins as the tide was nt in our favour. We sat and watched the world go by while putting it to rights , watching a gull find , fly and then eat a large crab. The swallows seemed to have increased in numbers and a sky lark sang above our heads.
People started to move, binoculars up, cameras clicking, the dolphins had been spotted. Two swam past and eventually parted going in different directions. Which way do we look, must have been the same way as we both managed to catch a dolphin giving us the eye.
It was strange as we could see the underside of one of the dolphins as it swam under the water. It was hard to work out what it was o start with.
They did nt stay long but long enough to enjoy them.
Plenty of flowers were in bloom by the lighthouse and carpark and luckily the people cutting the grass had left the thrift/sea pinks for us to enjoy.
Back home I spent the rest of the day in the garden coming in for breaks when it got too hot. Yes, too hot for me anyway at 23 degrees.
I spotted the newly fledged bluetits in a tree round the back, although I think it's different ones from the ones in the nestbox. Hoping that they come closer tomorrow. Mike saw the woodpecker and baby on the fat balls too.
David has been on a book binding course today at the museum in Inverness and has produced a wonderful little book with a salmon skin cover. No, it does nt smell fishy but of leather :) A great way to spend his birthday and it was only £10 too.
To end the evening the Pine marten arrived for his supper. I had just been watching a mouse moments before and it took a hasty retreat.
