A Wild day with the swans
As forecast this morning was bright and sunny we headed for The Brahan Estate near Dingwall. I was hoping that the rhododendrons and Azaleas were out. I was nt disappointed. It looked stunning and smelt wonderful too. There were blooms from white to the brightest orange ,so lovely to walk through such a display and so peaceful.
The bluebells were still in flower, just, along with cow parsley and red campion and a few others that I do nt know the name of.
We walked down to the small loch, looked at the standing stone and then sat and had a drink with the swans. Four small cygnets have hatched and were busy swimming with their parents. We were close but the swans did nt seem to mind. I could have stayed all day they were adorable, little balls of fluff with beaks and feet :)
A deer watched us from deep inside a corn field, I wondered if a fawn might be hiding with it. A grebe dived and then resurfaced and disappeared again. Possible fly catchers were busy darting out of the bush to catch flies.
A few massive trees had been brought down during the Winter. It really was a stormy one !
We went to Strathpeffer and had breakfast and at last managed a photo of the friendly robin who feeds on the crumbs.
The sun is still shining so maybe abit of gardening before dinner :)
