Short-tailed Vole

One of these ran between my feet the other day in the back garden.
Then, coincidentally, this morning this dead short-tailed vole was lying on our driveway with marks on its back that would tally with having been killed by a cat.
Shame. Quite an attractive little creature, and not often seen. He is posed, lying on his back here, just before I buried him amongst the Primulas.
