Fremont Bridge

A bit of a desperation shot. We were on our way to a meeting, knowing it would be dark when we got out, so I was snapping shots from the car window as we whizzed on the freeway. This bridge over the Willamette river was under construction when I first came to Portland, and was opened in November 1973. According to wiki, it is a steel, tied-arch bridge. The Portland Art Commission was invited to participate in the design process. The Oregon state and US flags on top were added in 1976 as part of the bicentennial celebration for the United States.
