Margam Castle, Margam, Port Talbot. South Wales.

This "castle" is really a large Victorian house built over a ten year period between 1830 and 1840 for Christopher Rice Mansell Talbot, a very wealthy  landowner, business man and politician who was responsible for much of the development in the area including the old Aberavon harbour, The South Wales Railway, and the development of Swansea Docks. Because of his massive input into the area, the Aberavon harbour was renamed Port Talbot in his honour. In 1831, he opened an ironworks at Port Talbot which is now a massive steels works complex owned by TATA Steel of India. The house is a grade I listed building in the care of Neath Port Talbot Borough Council.  It is also reputed to be haunted by a chap called Robert Scott, the estate gamekeeper who was murdered by a poacher in 1898. There have been many subsequent reports of paranormal activities over the years.
