ON A SPECIAL DAY.....
..... well sort of, and the fact so much of my journal is based around the mighty Nepean River today is a special day!!
The reason is "back when" on this day in 1789 Captain Watkin Tench found the Nepean River. Have a read here of his history courtesy of the Australian Dictionary of Biography.
This area of the Nepean is named Tench Reserve after him, and has quite an expansive Park and picnic areas, the boat ramp, and the Nepean Belle Paddle Wheeler which has plied the river now for many years leaves from here.
No "hum drum" being held, just my journal entry noting the day. And if you happen to look at the map, you will see the road which runs along this section of the river is also named after him (Tench Avenue).
Enjoy, have a look in LARGE and check another shot in extras.
