Tiny Tuesday - Birds Nest Fungi

Riwaka7 and Miffy have done this one before me but I wanted it in my journal too. Growing on a little piece of decaying wood, the fungi is just 4 mm across. I would have looked a bit odd crouched on the track with my plastic ruler, measuring a sliver of wood but because I had a bit of a rude greeting from a dog I was able to scramble to my feet before the owner arrived and saw me.

They are tiny perfection. The macro shows these ones are not quite egg shaped but a bit flattened - like a tiny peppermint.

It would have been better sharper but had to take it handheld with 2 macro filters to get it big enough to see.
