Derelict Thursday: Old pump & Commissioner's Shack

Today we attended a meeting of the Heritage Committee at the Commissioner's Shack in the Belair National Park. This is a 90 year old cottage building, at the front section of the Park.

The meeting was to determine if, and how it could be restored, and to what use the building should be put.  Paladian and I were there as  observers - and we both wanted to get a look inside and take some photos. I blipped this building from the outside last year.

The sad thing is the interior of the cottage that has been let go to rack and ruin.  It has all been eaten out by white ants and it truly is derelict. As you can see in Paladian's blip.

This pump is situated over the well that used to supply water for this cottage.

In my extra photo I show the view from the cottage looking back to the pump. The boards around the pump are very badly rotted, and if stepped on, the dereliction could prove to be quite dangerous.

This is my first photo taken with our new Olympus camera and what a dream it is to use.
