Sleepover!
Gosh it's a hot one! Even when having morning coffee in the front garden, before the clouds rolled in... Then they rolled away again and it was HOT all day.
We took the bus to the Library to pick up the wee cooncil food rubbish bags - I sent JR in to get them, as they are in a department about four floors down. The stairs nearly killed me last time!
Archie and I waited for her in the Frisky shop. I love those Friskies!
Back through the Meadows, where Archie visited every group of people sitting on the grass... not - as they thought - to be friendly, but to see if there was any food to pinch! Dogs, eh?
His luck was in. Strangely enough, there was a pile of potatoes, two very large carrots and a yoghurt in the middle of the putting green. Arch grabbed one of the very large carrots and made off with it. He's allowed carrots, of course, (it could have been something worse) but he needed to go on the lead again as we were heading home.
A woman was walking with intent towards him from the other side. As she got near him and it was obvious she was going to pass him, I called out to her to grab him. She laughed, and said, 'Yes, if you'll grab my son!' The young lad she had her eyes on in the distance was heading away from her as fast as he could, not wanting to go home. This is a ritual, apparently. We suggested a lead and collar. Archie walked home carrying his half chewed and less large carrot, looking well pleased with himself.
We dropped him off at young A's house this afternoon - he's having a sleepover. He barked excitedly when he saw them, and ran to meet a delighted young A. As we made our getaway, there he was, paws up on the window ledge, head just visible - he heard our voices. It's character building, Archie.
Again, although we're dog-less, we can't be bothered hitting the town. Too hot to move - that's my excuse. Oh, and there's tennis on... What a match yesterday with the dreadlocked chap!
A cold beer, the sofa and Wimbledon - what more could I ask for?
A Magnum, obviously...
