Needle and Thread

We returned to Creon today and found the market in full swing.  We have visited a few other markets on this holiday but this was favourite - it felt the most authentic.  There were many stall of vegetables and fruit, of bread, cured meats, marinated olives and loose herbs and spices.  This one pictured however was my favourite - a man on the one of the corners of the market square, a hand written sign advertising his chair mending service.  In particular he was weaving new seats for old chairs with a needle and dried reeds and some kind of wood - it looked like bleached willow.  Great to see such skill and people renewing old, no doubt loved, possessions.  Another very warm day so we returned and rested in the cool of the house and read books and did crosswords.  An additional photo in Extras.
