Serene sunday
As a family we have had such a relaxing end to the weekend and start to the holidays.
This morning i did my usual yoga surya namaskara (sun salutation) and of course Marley joined in. I'm getting more and more into yoga after talking with a friend who practices and co teaches.
I really enjoy it and i want to learn more than just the poses i'm attempting to learn the names of the poses or asanas too. Getting to a class isn't so easy with 3 in tow or cheap either so i'm doing what i can at home.
Pilates was good and i enjoyed it but i found my back and hips especially ached a lot for the rest of the day after it.
Its kind of hard to snap a pic of yourself doing yoga but luckily for me i could in my fave position, called the hasta uttanasana and its the second and 11th pose in the sun salutation. My back loves it every morning. You stretch right up, arms raised above your head and you gently lean back from the hips.
Harper though busy looking at a book stretched him arms up too with a big smile on his face, i think he'll be joining us soon!. I found some great poses for kids today so after my routine each morning i'll do some with Marley that are suitable for him and i hope to get into doing a routine at night with him too to help settle him down for bed
I love being able to do this each morning especially with Mar and have fresh fruit and veg juice after with my family, i think its nice way to start the day
We took a drive to the beach this morning- a little bay not far from the main port here in chch and we searched for shells, well i did anyway for an activity in the holidays.. The boys threw stones in the water.
It was so beautifully quiet hearing the waves crash and the birds sing.
We took a walk along a forest path that leads to another bay, we kept hearing a loud noise that i can only describe like the sound a geyser would make, though we couldn't see what was actually making it, it seemed to be coming from the top of the hill.
Marley told us it was a green dragon who lives up there snoring and roaring.
He even found 'dragon fossils' -see the tree roots? They do look sort of like dragon bones all scattered.
After our bay, beach, forest visit we headed back to the car and went for a drive around to Sumner beach where we had hot chips and a chocolate milkshake.
The sky towards the ocean was so incredibly stunning. Purples, pinks orange floated around the horizon while the sun tried to shine through from above.
We spent the afternoon in the warmth of the sun sticking stickers, trying to make balloon animals and reading books.
So much beauty, peacefulness and relaxation in one day!
Fresh air, a big walk, exploration, warmth and fun was just what my boys needed to fuel their wee brains and body's. Made them pretty hungry and tired but happy.
