Day 1- At home

Marley ran up to me this morning with a worried look on his face ' i dont want to go to school i want to stay home.'

I gave him a big smile and reminded him that it was holidays and there was no school for 2 weeks. He ran off laughing with sort of an evil laugh.

Officially first day of holidays, first day with all of them home and me the only adult in the house. Coffee was my friend- my co pilot if you will.

I had activities planned. They did some of them- dress ups, the tarp of shapes where they threw balls through, coloured spaghetti was a hit for a while.

In the end though nothing really held their attention for long, all they wanted to do was watch movies.

Marley helped me make buns, he helped prepare the dough then roll it and place them on a tray to rise. I want to teach him a few life skills like this- making bread etc.

He also helped make coffee, he steamed the milk completely by himself today which isn't the easiest thing to do! Hello my little barista!

The afternoon was quiet, they all sat around not doing much which meant i got the housework done.

Later on after a shower, Marley started crying- he was really upset. His ear ached badly. We thought about going to the doctors but it was so late and freezing outside we decided that wasn't going to help anyone though i was concerned about his drum bursting it seemed that bad. We discovered he had water stuck in his ear once he stopped sobbing, he was able to tell us he could feel it in there.

We tried a few things- rubbing his ear, warm air from the hair dryer, getting him to yawn. Nothing helped. He was actually really tired too which didn't help trying to relieve the pain  He kept crying for his grandma with big tears and sobs.

He ended up sitting on my lap curled up and fell asleep. Poor kid. earache hurts! Hoping it will be better in the morning once he's slept a bit, hopefully it will drain on its own.
