Hot and steamy!

Thankfully the rehearsal and concert were in a church which was far cooler than the steamy, tropical weather outside.

In our lunch break we bravely ventured outside into the steam and explored the fabulous market which surrounded the square - and bought delicious fruits for a lunch in the shade of the trees.

This was the concert - we gave the same concert in Greenwich (where Gertrude had lived) in January ..

Gertrude Evans was Berlin’s last Jewish student at the former Hochschule für Musik. She fled the Nazis’ terror in 1939, finding safety in London. Years later she co-founded London’s Linden Baroque Orchestra, which today, 70 years after the end of World War II and following 15 years of city-partnership between Berlin and London, brings the Orchestra to Berlin.
The concert, organized by the Faculty of Music of the University of the Arts is Admission Free! Donations for Refugee Assistance will be welcome.

I think the concert went fairly well - there were a quite a lot of speeches to sit through (many in German, of course) .. and the heat didn't help the instruments, but there was a very generous collection for the Refugee fund.

After the concert we walked around the corner and were fed the most delicious tapas style meal.

I think the 'caterers' were people who catered for these sort of events regularly to raise funds for their charity which provides support for families somewhere or other ..

That's a bit vague isn't it? :\
