Waiting

We had a very early 5'ish am start and rushed into London.
And then we waited.
And waited.
And waited.
And waited some more.
We were called upstairs to wait.
Then sent downstairs to wait.
Then upstairs to wait.
Then downstairs to wait.
Then finally up to the 4th floor where we waited more.
Then I came home and we wait overnight. B has stayed there to do his waiting. At least in this stage of waiting, he has a TV in his room - he was watching Wimbledon early evening.

So no operation today. Probably tomorrow.

For one long miserable wait, he was in his gown (and the other lovely surgical garments), showered and prepped for surgery, in a separate room from me, without his glasses and any form of book, computer, phone or company, in case of contamination. He just sat waiting. And I sat in another room down the corridor.

Tomorrow will hopefully be different.

It's going to be a fantastic hospital when it's finished. It is no longer called 'The Heart Hospital'. It is now called 'UCLH - West Moreland Street' and it is becoming the centre for urology and thoracic surgery. And the nursing staff we met today are wonderful.
