Race for Life, Mote Park Maidstone
Mote Park was heaving with Pink Ladies (and later lots of muddy brown ladies) for the annual Race for Life event for Cancer Research. Today was the aptly named "Pretty Muddy" event with 10k and 5k events tomorrow. Today's fun even involved copious quantities of muddy water in various obstacles around the 5k course. The first saw pristine kit immediately turned brown not just from the state of the water but also from the actions of some of the participants who were scooping quantities of the goo over their friends and any passing participant who happened to be in the vicinity.
This obstacle, had a climbing net on the other side and once at the top there was no option other than to plunge down into the bath of mud at the bottom. I'm not sure if some competitors didn't have more than one go. To make the experience even better a hose played on the slide and sliders as they came down the chute.
The rest of the day was fairly regulation after that for us. Coffee in town, a new pair of walking shoes for me, allotmenteering to plant out beans and leeks and to pick fruit, cleaning for Susan all before the much anticipated and most enjoyable Saturday evening meal.
