A fine Scottish summer evening !

Not. Been one of those days again. First off,the last under age in calf heifer decided that 7 o'clock Sunday morning was the best time to start calving. Got her round to the crush in one of the day's many downpours, legs and head all there, but too big to come out the way it went in. Phoned the vet to come and do a caesarean. Turns out this was her first week end at the practice. She made a good enough job - 1 live bull calf and everything stitched back in with out any problems.
By the time we got finished that was the morning gone !
Spent the afternoon stacking away the lambing shed pens as will need the shed for straw before long.
Moved the spring calvers tonight back to their field now they have grazed down the 3 acres banking I had them shut in.
Looking at the sky we wont be cutting silage for a day or two. By 9pm tonight it was starting to get dark. We have acres of grass still to cut, half way through July and not a lot done yet. Hope the weather picks up soon,or I may jump back on the plane to Majorca with 200 acres of grass in my suitcase !
