Winch at Burwick

It's been a wonderful day of sunshine and warmth again :)   Please let us have more :)

A lovely sunny day and I've been working all day, and tonight too!  I managed to get for a walk this morning to pick up a photo order and then came back to a madhouse in the museum.  The Costa Fortuna has been in Lerwick today with nearly 3,000 passengers and most that weren't on bus tours came to the museum.  I got a couple of hours off this afternoon as I'm having to cover in the museum tonight.  Me and Sammy went for a walk to Burwick, met Brian there and he took us back in the boat.
Hopefully not be too busy tonight and get home early, but then again, much better as working late in the pub :)

Me and Sammy had a great walk to Burwick from Scalloway.  It's just a mile or so over the hill and down the other side and then you're in a different world.  A peerie abandoned village but there's still two houses lived in today.  The old pier can still be used and easy access by boat and once this old winch would have been handy.  Behind the winch is the old Cable House, not sure the use of the building but had something to do with the Iceland cable that was hauled ashore here a 100 years ago or so.
