The Green Sands of Hampshire

It rained persistently for most of the day; in a way it seemed pleasant to have a reason to rest inside and be more lazy than usual.  However by 4pm I was getting restless; there was more to do inside but nothing I could motivate myself to do.  I ventured out on to the heath, the 'green sands' carved with little gullies where the water had run down the slopes.  The rain stopped and there were moments of sunshine and blue sky; the wind felt warm on my face.  Cob webs and grasses glistened amidst the heather and the birch, oak and rowan trees.
