at home with an Ivysaurus

The very hungry briaradon

There's many photos of briar with/ trying to get things in her mouth. This seems to be her natural state. She's a chunky little thing- Big chubby baby thighs she's growing now.

We had a discharge meeting today with lots of people involved in willows case, including our health visitor from ullapool. Unfortunately willows lost weight today so discharge on Monday is unlikely. The consultant in the meeting said to expect another 2 weeks, so I've got to start arranging child care for ivy as Euan might be back at work- thankfully ivys booked for a child minder on Monday mornings this term, and we now get 6 hours of help from the health visiting team so not so much ivy time to fill between friends and child minders. And Granny Grant is up in a fortnight if I'm
Still in then. When the girls were first born I set up a Facebook group with everyone who might watch ivy for a bit in it, so it's quite a slick operation to sort her care now.

I was given the option to consider leaving willow in hospital by herself and going home to Ivy. It's a really though decision to make : on the one hand ivy is only little to be without me so long and is clearly missing me; on the other hand if I leave Willow its an end of her breastfeeding. She's not a great feeder, but she tries and I think it's an important skill for her to keep. For now I'll stay stuck in hospital with willow. If we're still here in September I might recinsider.

willows now on a New medicine (she now gets 3 different ones) to empty her stomach quicker. If she's still vomiting next week shell get a barium tracer to see how she digests. Her feeding regime has changed to be 3 hourly feeds throughout the day and a continuous evening feed running from 5.30-11.30. The Dietician is floating the possibility of continuous feeds running all day- basically plugging her Into her pump when we get up and turning her
Off at bedtime. I really really hope it doesn't come to that.

On a more positive note: briar slept 11- 5.00 last night! And with willows New feeding regime there's no more 2.30-4.00am pump to supervise so there will lots more sleep in our house when we finally get home.
