Fundraising Concert

This afternoon I attended a fundraising concert, raising money for our Year 9/10 students so they can attend camp later in the year.

The concert was performed by our English Teacher, Chris Green, who sung a variety of songs.  Chris is a very talented man.  As well as being a teacher, he has toured NZ in the cast of "EVITA", performed in Les Miserables, CHESS, My Fair Lady, Joseph, Phantom of the Opera, CATS and Cabaret.

Chris's special guest was Piano Virtuoso Thomas Nikora. What a talented young man Thomas is!  In 2011, at just 16, Thomas gained his LTCL piano diploma, and is now in his last year of his performance degree in Wellington, at the NZ School of Music.  He has performed with many established musicians, playing in classical concerts and accompanying Wellington's top choirs. He has played alongside both Orchestra Wellington and the NZ Symphony Orchestra.

Although Thomas usually plays on a Piano, today he played on a Keyboard (due to the lack of a piano), which was 3 octaves shorter than what he is used to.  Despite this, he did a brilliant job.  This man has talent, and will definitely be going places in the world.

It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon, enjoying two very gifted performers, and raising money at the same time.
