Mono Monday: Work

For reasons I won't trouble you with, we find ourselves in Lisbon still this morning, and will be flying back to the UK later today.  A little unexpected (but not entirely welcome) extension to our holiday!  

This is a shot taken earlier today on the tree lined Avenida Liberdade, as you walk along you will see plenty of these shoe shine pitches. With modern footwear being what it is, (trainers and casual footwear that does not take traditional shoe polish), there must be less work for these guys each year.  Its going to be another hot one here today, it can't be easy or comfortable work in this heat.

Technically, I am supposed to be back at work today, but fortunately I had no meetings organised for today and can do quite a bit with a phone, my laptop and an internet connection, so its not a complete disaster.  Its not great to have to work rather than enjoy the sites, but there are worse places to be!

On the plus side we got to try a great restaurant last night - Quermesse, which I can recommend to anyone that is in this part of the world. It is slightly off the beaten track but worth tracking down.
