Stenhouse Mansion
A quick trip out at lunchtime to find a garage not too far from work to get them car MOT'd in a few weeks time.
The garage I settled on is next to this building. For all the years I have lived and worked in Edinburgh - for some years less than a half a mile from this location it has not registered with me. In part because it is set back from the main road, now behind a petrol station at a busy junction.
It has a distinctive style and has been extensively restored from a very dilapidated state. Used now by Historic Scotland as a conservation unit, and owned by the National Trust for Scotland, it sits oddly amongst the modern constructions. A far cry from when the existing building was developed and expanded from 1623!
