Judith and Helena meet in Calstock
We finally left our holiday home in Polzeath at lunchtime having had a good time despite the rather cool weather. I was glad that I'd had a few hours of proper sunshine on the beach yesterday lying on the warm sand, reading and watching family beach life which is what many enjoy there.
My sore knee didn't hurt too much when driving which I had worried about. Helena had arranged to meet fellow blipper, Judith, aka Madchickenwoman, at her home in the east of Cornwall which we had been looking forward to. Judith had kindly offered to donate some materials for Helena to take for the children to use at her school, which turned out to be a brilliant assortment of unusual toys and colourful play materials.
We hadn't met before so it was good to find out more about each other over several cups of coffee and tea. I was really interested by Judith's fine assemblage of garden and pot plants spread between her conservatory and the back garden. I couldn't resist taking a few macro shots of plumbago, dahlia and bougainvillea flowers as well as admiring the huge ginger plant which is thriving. I am determined to grow some now. Judith also gave us a very unusual cutting from another amazing plant sometimes called a 'Queen of the night' plant. She showed us the mother plant, which was huge, and still had some of its enormous fading flowers to give us an idea of what to expect, in a few years time, I imagine.
Whilst standing in the garden next to her two chickens I tried to edge back far enough to get a picture of Helena and Judith sitting on the back steps. It isn't a great shot, what with a flower on a long stem appearing to tickle Helena's nose, but it does capture another good blipmeet.
Thank you Judith for your hospitality and gifts, and hopefully we shall meet again before too long.
