The good old Kindle ... a day of emails
So, we get up early and head to the airport as directed at 7am. We expected it to be much busier than it is when we arrive but it does start to fill up around 7.30am when the counters start to open. We go to the check-in counters first. Bali airport is open and flights are leaving Labuan Bajo but there are no available seats at the moment. We are advised we can be put on standby (which comprises of a scrap of paper on the counter) and wait and see or we can go and get our money back and rebook. There are no available seats on any flights to Bali today.
We head downstairs. There are one or two people before us in the queue but the office isn't open yet. The girl arrives and we wait our turn. She says there are no seats today (as we know) but there are two on the flight tomorrow so we book them! More people are arriving and there's very limited availability for the flight tomorrow so we think we've made the right decision as the chances of getting on a flight today are minimal.
Back to town and we meet our freediver friends again. They had been due to leave this morning on a boat but, because of the storm, their boat hasn't gone so they are waiting for that to clear .. it seems everyone is stranded. Apart from the national park, there's not a lot to do in Labuan Bajo!
We try to do an online chat with AirAsia to see if we can change our connecting flights. We are placed in a queue and get from number 20 to number 8, then the internet crashes, we try again and start at 50 something this time ... again it crashes after 25 minutes of waiting. We head to the dive shop to use Chiara's internet and finally get through after moving from 78 to number 1 in about 45 minutes. After 10 minutes of "chat" and trying to sort it out they say our time is up and cut us off ... hmmmm. We get some credit for the phone and Andy calls them. Someone is going to look into for us and we need to call them back.
So, we hope that's the Bali to Singapore leg covered. Next we need to contact our travel agent to say we may not make our flight from Singapore to London. The travel butler service they run is brilliant and they get back us immediately saying we should change our return flight as if we just don't turn up we'll have to pay again, However, if we change it, and we manage to get to Singapore in time, we may be able to get on an earlier flight. So we change our return flight to the 17th. We're going to miss the Bournemouth birthday weekend but that can't be helped.
We had also booked a hotel in Singapore through Agoda so try to contact them but don't have any luck. We've had enough of emails so will try again later. We do try to ring AirAsia back but the queue is now massive so we run out of credit twice before giving up ... what will be will be.
Lets see how tomorrow goes ...
