Of course I'm crabby, you almost stepped on me!

It was hard not to step on the ghost crabs as they were all over the shore on Pea Island Preserve.We were busy today , Pea Island this AM , a swim in the ocean( though it was way too rough to stay in long) and a walk in the Nature Conservancy's Nags Head Woods. Consequently it was hard to choose a photo from the collection , though a lot of them were taken to try to make a positive bird identification. I know , I'm a bird nerd. But we've never seen black skimmers before or red- headed woodpeckers . The extra is a green heron from Nags Head. Traditional touristy stuff tomorrow, I promise.
