Wound up in Wexford

Victorian post box

At first sight, Hethersett strikes one as a modern dormitory village for Norwich.  But if you look hard enough, there are old buildings and other accoutrements to make it clear, it was there a long time ago.  It has, though, seen enormous expansion over the last few decades - and in fact there is still much house building proceeding around the village.

This post box is in the wall of the Queen's Head pub - which was in fact an old Coaching Inn on the main road out of Norwich towards London.  The A11 now bypasses Hethersett - and in fact, even before the new dual carriageway bypass was built, the old A11 (now the B1172) had bypassed Hethersett main village street.
