Dinner

After some unnecessary aggravation, we felt a need for a distraction-free evening out à deux today, so we went to the local restaurant, which we haven't visited all summer. It was a mild evening with no wind, so we even sat outside. Superb as always: this is my tarte tatin à la tomate, mousse de chèvre. S had some real smoked haddock for his starter, which is near-impossible to get in France. My main course (in the extra) was pan-fried hake served with beurre blanc and piquillo peppers stuffed with mashed potato that had been flavoured with the smoked haddock trimmings ... delicious! A much needed time-out from daily life. 

Computer update: in the course of the restore/reinstallation, some 400 photos have disappeared, some dating back to 2013. Searching backups was fruitless. Hey ho. The best of them are on Flickr or Blip, so it's not that much of a disaster -- I just feel uncomfortable that I don't understand how it happened.
