Grouse Moorland

Afternoon walk on the North York Moors. Despite being overcast it was warm with a gentle breeze.

This moorland is a managed environment for Grouse. This is big business and provides jobs for local people. Although this year the number of Grouse is a cause for concern with some shoots having to be cancelled. The Heather is burnt off on a regular basis to encourage new growth. Even this pool is artificially created.
