Last day in Bruges

We had time to buy some cheese in the market situated in the square before we headed off for the ferry home. This is the tower we climbed last time we were here, over 25 years ago, with the friend we were going to visit next.

We were sad to say goodbye to the family - Ella said when she was an adult and I was a child she'd take me on holiday. She seems to think we'll swap roles - and she could be right!

The ferry was 2 hours late which meant we had big queues of traffic at the Dart Crossing. Meanwhile Ella and Nathaniel were eating snails and garlic butter.

We arrived at our friends' in Ipswich later than planned but had a lovely catch up regardless, though it was sad too - if things had gone differently, we would have been celebrating David's election as an MP. However, it was not to be, and as they said, worse things are happening in Syria.
