Remains of Atlantic Wall, Normandy
This photo was taken just to the south of Ravenoville, on the Eastern coast of the Cotentin Peninsular.
On D-Day it would have been at the northern end of the Utah landing beach, but for the fact that the 4th US Infantry Division landed two miles south of their main landing target - and encountered very little resistance. The defences here would have been more formidable.
