At the top of Hoher Burgstall.
From the Starkenburger Hut it was 400m up to the top of the Hoher Burgstall. This was our last day, and 2 of us decided to go up before the descent to the valley and the bus back to Innsbruck. There are seven "summits" in the Stubai Alps, but they are not necessarily the highest mountains. Whilst the Zucherhutl (Sugar lump) is 3505m high, the Hoher Burgstall, by contrast, is one of the lowest of the "summits" at 2611m. Like all the others, it is marked not by a cairn or a trig point, as we might have expected, but by a cross. The views were fantastic. Well worth the effort. Perhaps we are now entitled to wear the T shirt on one day per week.
That concludes a taste of our alpine walk. Back blips all in place and time to move on!
