Birch Boletus

We have 5 birch trees in the back garden and every so often there sprouts from the ground underneath them a few mushrooms which most people I know would run a mile from but which are actually not only edible but quite tasty. The one in question is the Birch Boletus and this one, picked this morning after keeping its growth under close scrutiny for a day and a half, is about to be sliced up, fried in butter and eaten. Boy am I looking forward to this.
With a bit of luck the slugs won't get the 2 or 3 others which are just too small to pick yet.
