One step at a time!

Tuesday 1st September

Woke up to gorgeous sunshine yet again, beginning to wonder if the M6 motorway has been extended to Southern Europe and we took a wrong turn when heading to Dumfries and Galloway.

Late last night Pam filled the bird feeders, within two minutes of opening the curtains this morning there were so many delightful birds to see. Great tits, blue tits, coal tits, bearded tits, nuthatches, chaffinches, a robin, wren, blackbird and even a lengthy visit from a juvenile great spotted woodpecker. So the rest of the morning until mid afternoon consisted of walking around the garden taking lots of photographs and watching the antics of the multitude of birdlife.

Its hard to describe the sheer pleasure I experienced just sitting in the sunshine, with the only sound coming from birdsong and bees. Many folk like their foreign holidays and I can understand the attraction but for Pam and I it really doesn't get much better than this!

At about 2pm we had our first shower of rain, I had watched it approaching from across the sea and even spotted what appeared to be a small 'twister' in the distant sky. Some light rainfall followed for about 30 minutes and then it was back to the warm bright sunshine. We drove over the hill to Carrick foreshore to spend some time walking on the beach and managed to witness a beautiful sunset over the distant Whithorn.
