Stripey Squash

I was rather taken with the look of this squash (no, I didn't grow it) and when it was sitting on the kitchen table the stripes seemed to reflect the old pine markings in the wood.
We said goodbye to our visitor this morning, but not before a walk in the September sunshine and a gathering of sloes!! This time they were big, fat and juicy! So our village sloes from the blackthorn bushes will have travelled to Yorkshire and Cambridge this year, to be enjoyed as sloe gin over Christmas!
Then a quick trip to our local (small) hospital for JF to have an X-ray on his back. We were the only people in that department and the staff were very kind.
The new season of indoor bowls began this afternoon - and one of the players brought a huge chocolate cake to have at the half time tea!
