Sailing back in time

This morning we woke up,to heavy skies and rain.........youngest son called round at 10am to pick up their order from Costco ;-) and to have some brunch with us, as his wife was working today.

We said our goodbyes and then off to mums hub and I went, to take her to their old Cruising Club, in Lymm, as it was their 60 year jubilee celebrations, and all past and present members had been invited. Sis had been to mums earlier to help her with her hair and clothes, so she was raring to,go,when we arrived.

We all had a lovely afternoon, mum in particular, meeting lots of their old friends from over 20 years ago. Most of them recognisable by their boat name......as soon as someone mentioned ed their boats name, everything fell in to place. Mum was one of eldest at 82, other than two ladies, at 91, and 101. ( you can see the glamorous 101 year old in my extras!!! Edit.....won't let me upload any extras, will share her tomorrow)

This blip is of Mum, on the right, with a good friend Sheila, looking very happy to have been reunited. Sheila and her husband Danny used to moor their narrowboat opposite Mum and Dads cottage when they lived on the Canalbank in the late 80s/early 90s.

When the Commodore gave his welcome to all members, I have to admit I got a bit choked, Dad would have enjoyed this day!

We stayed for about 3 hours, had tea and clotted cream and jam scones ;-) once we got back to mums house, we stayed for dinner, watched TV, including the XFactor, the. Drove home, got back around 9.45pm.

It's now 10.45........finishing uploading, and my G&T, as I was designated driver today.....then up the wooden hill me thinks.

Not too achy this morning btw, after yesterday's mammoth gardening session, thankfully :-)

Night all
