The walking bus

Today 100,00 children around Britain walked along the pavement to promoted road safety. To play our part in this, the school I work in walked along the promenade and back with 500+ children. Yes you can picture it... Organised chaos!!! Children dressed as traffic lights and zebra crossings, holding banners, chanting 'we want safer route to school.' For half an hour!!!!

We had the police there to support us. Who at one point turned on their sirens, causing one child to cry and another to fall over in shock!!! Bewilded and innocent passers by/ dog walker looked on with confusion, not knowing why all these children had been 'let out.'

We returned to the school windswept, tired and in tears and that was just the staff !!! But seriously, if it promotes road safety, then I am all for it. Children are very precious.
