CURIOUS? I?
After the dark days of the past it was a nice surprise to see the sun again in the morning and still better to see her all day.
A good reason to start our walk before lunch, make some sandwiches for a picnic, a juice bottle comes too and off we go.
We drive to Manrode, a little village where we had never been before. It is not far away, just around the corner of the Deisselhill, where we had walked last week when the weather was Sunny too.
We parked near the church, went in, sat for a moment, Piet Hein lits a candle (he always do). In the porch I see a showcase and in it there are a lot of bones. A saint? I wonder. We were in a catholic church, easily recognized by the sculptures of several saints.
But no, these are the bones of a man who had lived in the surroundings of Manrode 3500 years ago.
We walk a very nice path, there are fields around us, hills and forests in the distance. When we see a farmer climbing his tractor, we greet, and as often happens, the man comes down again and we have an interesting conversation, I mean, he tells us interesting facts about the place where we walk.
A meadow with cows, all so curious. They decide to walk with us, they at the other side of the fence that is. A sign tells us that there is a free walking bull in the meadow too, and warns us to be careful.
Sitting in the grass we eat our sandwich, at the end of the field we see a deer, eating too. She sees us and slowly decides to wander of and suddenly starts running, turning into the safe forest.
We have descended a lot and to reach Manrode again we climb a steep hill, with views in all directions.
My haiku:
The smell of grass, trees
And cattle, birds of prey
In the air, circling
And the proverb:
No autumn fruit without spring blossoms.

After this nice walk, one that is not too long, or too short, I am tired, I have to admit it.
But tomorrow I will be back, fresh and lively again and will browse, see my blipfriends photos and comment again.
