Al Fresco Alcudia
Wednesday night, and we decided to have our dinner in Alcudia old town square. We spent the day sunbathing on the beach outside our hotel, before showering and getting changed and catching the local bus. 1 euro 80 cents, and just over half an hour, and we were there.
We ate outside, from a lovely Mallorcan owned restaurant ( as opposed to Italian, or steak-house etc.), and chose traditional meals. I had a starter of a salad of rocket with candied cherry tomatoes and dates followed by cod loin on sobrasada ( a local sausage delicacy) with prunes and dates.
No room for pudding, but a cortado (like expresso but with a splash of milk) to wash it down, and then we caught the bus back to C'an Picafort. We headed to our favourite bar there, Don Juan's (really!), where we had a couple of drinks before bed.
Sadly, we were never able to have a drink in our own hotel as they put on nightly entertainment, which was absolutely dire. The lure of a nightcap in the bar was always outweighed by the horror of having to sit through bingo and a Michael Jackson tribute act!
Anyway, that was our last big day. Conscious of the fact that we were going home early on Friday, Thursday was a planned day of lying on a sunbed or swimming. (In the event, it was a bit too choppy for proper swimming, but we had loads of fun jumping up and down in the waves, shouting "Ooh, here comes a really big one!", and trying not to swallow loads of salt water.
Unsuccessfully.
