Rebuilding
Excuse the quality of the photo. Took this is a rush home after our latest band rehearsal.
I've really enjoyed being back in a band hall - hard to believe I've spent so many years away from this, I'd forgotten how much I enjoy it - the playing, the chat, the jokes, and the fact that you can't think about anything else when you are there.
We've had a steady increase in numbers all thanks to an amazing man who is the power house behind the restoration of a 100 year old band.
After we split up 20 years ago, we gave up everything - uniforms, music, percussion, instruments...the works. Which means we have to start from scratch.
We've had amazing support from other bands and the Scottish Brass Band Association, and (thanks to a tip off from a school mum - Carol you are a star!) we get to play for Santa on 11th November when he lands his sleigh at the local shopping centre here in Edinburgh.
At the moment we are rehearsing in this church hall. 20 years ago it was part of a burned out building. But it has been restored. Quite a fitting venue for our restoration story!
