Carpe diem

In a fairly regular plot, blackmailers/hostage takers will publish a picture of their victim holding today's paper to show they are still alive!    I am - and here's the proof.

The Scotsman was launched in 1817 as a liberal weekly newspaper by lawyer William Ritchie and customs official Charles Maclaren in response to the "unblushing subservience" of competing newspapers to the Edinburgh establishment.   It may have changed policy and stance a bit in 200 years.
