Low flying
I've had a lovely day. My tramping club had a navigation skills course on the Port Hills. It wasn't too long, and it wasn't too short, it was just right ;-)
We criss-crossed some of the mountain biking tracks. It paid to keep alert.
We had a mix of good old fashioned compasses, and high tech GPS's. I'm all for technology but it can make you lazy/over reliant on technology. But if technology fails - dies, is dropped, left behind etc, you still need to know how to use a map and compass. It was a great refresher and I learned some new things too.
Afterwards I picked up a copy of the new fishing regulations. The new fishing season starts 1 October, and I'm away fishing next weekend :-)
