A noun and a verb

As a noun, grate means a framework of crossed bars. As a verb, grate means to grind or scrape.
Just to confuse things further, we also have the adjective great, which means much more than average or ordinary in size, extent, volume, value, or importance.
English is a rich and confusing language.

I've been hanging around technical writers at work now for 3 months. They're beginning to rub off on me ;-)
