One door closes another one opens

The car door shut on our out of town trip  tomorrow but the door to the garden centre opened with a bing bong .

Andre and i had planned and sorted everythign to go away to hanmer tomorrow for the day, it was going  to finally be our chance to have some time together and get a break, get back to being a married couple.

But. Harper came out in spots on his hands , his mouth and on his bum. Remember yesterday i said he had been feverish off and on . Ya well as it turns out he has hand foot and mouth! From what i've read it seems to be a sort of like chicken pox in that the couple of days before symptoms appear and once spots appear are the worst of it and once the cough or the spots dry up they're no longer contagious. 

I took him to my doctors who confirmed it today. I joked yesterday with the nurse and receptionist about the boys being unwell and everything and said i'll be back don't worry. I said today 'see !! i said ill be back and I'll probably be here next week with the other 2'  We all laughed.

And so with that our trip away was canceled so i went and bought a custard donut. Not the same thing as a trip but it was the deliciousness i needed to dull that ache of no longer getting time with my husband. I miss him so much and he lives with me, i miss when we had more time together. 

Harper has been really miserable today and of course Andre is always the chosen one when sick so there was no way we could leave him plus who knows if the other 2 might get it. Kanye and Mar have been alright, mar has been really helpful, kanye not so much hes actually been kind a difficult tipping out dishwashing liquid (which isnt fun to clean off the floor), opening the rabbit hutch up. Hes been a bit wild and its so hard to keep cool when hes into everything.

We had also planned a family day going to willowbank on Sunday with the boys but seeing as there are many children there its probably not a great idea. Hand foot and mouth is really common in kids and super infectious so i don't think we need to spread it. Marley had his heart set on going there but settled on a drive to the quarry on Sunday instead for a picnic.

So the money we had set aside for our great weekend was sitting there and i said to Andre well if we are going to be around home taking care of Harper and taking care of the other two then we may as well have projects at home to do.

We went to the garden centre and i got all my garden stuff- see above my haul. Veges and herbs were on special wa hey! I got a lot of compost and potting mix and some edging to protect my vege from my boys trikes. 
I got spinach, spring onions, silverbeet, lettuces, beetroot and kale which ive never grown before!

 I want to get veges in now and get them started then do all the flowers i want in pots later in the month when my birthday rolls around.
I also want to get a climbing flower, my mama in law said i think jasmine climbs. 

Where our dinner table is in the conservatory when ever you sit there you'll be able to see the bathtub with herbs so a beautiful smell will already come form that through the window or if you sit on the step but to the left there is space between our conservatory and the fence so a climber would go well there along with some pretty smelling flowers in pots

So i'm really looking forward to getting in the garden this evening and the weekend the weather is so beautiful at the moment. 

I'm going to plant my herbs and lavender in the cast iron bath that  this is all sitting on and i wanted to get tomatoes to plant in the bath too but i might grow them in pots on the table next to bath away from little fingers and in full sun, give the tomatoes more room

So as i said, though we didn't get to go away we still have a great weekend ahead, Andre has some painting stuff he wants to work on and got some supplies for that along with a few things around the house needing fixing.

One door closes and another opens. Just hoping Harper gets over this quickly hes really an unhappy poppet.
