A Doggie Day Out

Rufus and his mum joined us today for our expedition along the Water of Leith. Before we set off, I took a group photo, knowing that Archie at least would be too grubby later on. This proved to be true. Archie was manky, Bailey was fairly clean, but Rufus, bless him, had kept out of the river, walked round puddles and avoided mud and was as clean as when we left. Good boy!

We got the bus out to Roseburn and started the walk there, back to Stockbridge. Archie and Bailey never stopped running backwards and forwards, but wee 9 year old Rufus waddled along behind us. We always knew he was there - we could hear him wheezing.

We had a lovely walk in the sunshine, though slightly cool in the shade of the trees. We arrived in Stockbridge in time for a pop into the dog shop then lunch at the dog friendly Hector's, where JR joined us, via the shops.

The dogs were very good while we had our lunch, but when we were getting ready to depart, Bailey and her mum suddenly shot out first, which of course caused Archie to get frantic and bark and yelp VERY LOUDLY, I waved apologetically as I was dragged out by Archie, shouting 'Sorry!' at the glaring faces at the other tables.

Rufus and his mum came back for a coffee, then they were going for a walk in the Meadows! Archie and I opted for a snooze instead. Rufus is a great wee dug. A Brussels Griffon.

I have made a decision about my iPhone 6s... Wait for it... I'm going to swap it for a 5s. It's just too big. I like to be able to do things with one hand! Yes, it's a lovely big screen, but not as big as my iPad, which I use at home all the time.

This time next week we'll be off on an adventure. Without Archie.

I've put an extra shot in of the Dean Village part of the walk.

PS I see that we did this walk for the first time exactly a year ago, when Archie was a wee puppy.
