Burg Frauenstein

You can read a bit of the history here.  Don't bother with the links at the bottom of wikipedia page, they're both dead.  The German version of the history is much better.

It was a lovely day here and rather than sit inside and do various bits of nothing, we decided to head out for a walk.

They've started the grape harvest here and there were lots of teams out picking - mostly Polish from what we heard.  Brought back memories of "Tattie Howking Week*" when I was a kid, I'm guessing no-one does that anymore.

It was a lovely walk through vineyards down into Frauenstein.  Sun was shining and the views were lovely.  Might have to do something similar tomorrow.

*It means "potato picking" if you've never heard of it before.and it was a thing for kids to do in the October holiday.  Or rather it was if you lived anywhere near a farm that grew potatoes.  I didn't and I didn't know anyone who did.  Friends had cousins that they visited and worked with.  I was always a bit envious of the money they earned.  12 year old me had loads of ideas about what I could do with 20 quid.
