Millau viaduct

Kate and I travelled north today to see the truly fabulous Norman Foster bridge at Millau. One of the great wonders of the engineering world, it floats, elegant as a spider's web over the Tarn gorge. Below it are fields of poppies and on it are cars full of smiling, ooohing and aahing people. It's a thrilling bridge to cross and heart-stoppingly beautiful to look at.
Along with Concorde and the Channel Tunnel it's another stunning example of Anglo-French creativity.
