Food, copious food.
Let's imagine that you are a gentleman of a certain age, who is trying to improve his running not only through exercise but also through losing a bit of weight by staying away from carbohydrates. And let's further imagine that you also have a bit of weakness for those aforementioned carby goodnesses, and that once you start on them, you can find it hard to stop. And finally, to cap it all, let's envisage that you are spending your day with a client that specialises in fine foods.
It sounds like a recipe for disaster, doesn't it?
Normally, these lovely, generous, hospitable people bring out a little something for me to try at some point during the day as well as laying on lunch but today there was a near constant stream of biscuits, chocolates, cakes, sandwiches , crisps and even wine with lunch. Frankly, I'm amazed I made it through the afternoon.
