Two Towers

My feet hurt !

We have walked a bit too far today.

This morning we walked what is apparently the world's longest covered walkway - or portico. 3.8 km long, 666 arcades, 17th and 18th century and up hill for the second half ending up at the Sanctuary of the Madonna of St Luca. We then had to walk back and into the centre. We are not fit !

This afternoon, amongst other things, we walked up 480 or so wooden steps to take us to the top of the 97m Asinelli Tower. Like the adjacent Garisenda tower it was built during the 11th century. The Garisenda was shortened and stabilised after it started leaning following an earthquake (mind you, the wide angle on the blip makes it look as if most of the buildings are leaning). Spectacular views from the top (see extra).

The evening is for relaxing and enjoying some good bolognese food (not spaghetti bog - we've learnt that is not from here !)
